Services for aged persons with intellectual disabilities
1) Preface
Due to longevity, persons with intellectual disabilities (PWID)are getting older and frailer with complex co-morbid conditions. With reference to Social Welfare Department, when PWID reach the age of 50, they are defined as aged person, however, some of them may face the issue of aging even much younger. As a person-center principle, we thus consider put the line on 40 for service delivery.
According to the figures, PWIDs that using our services, 48% has reached the age of 40 and 30% has reached the age of 50%. These percentage are having an upward trend
In responding to the needs of services, we has set up a special task force for service development.
2) Services
2.1 Residential services
- The first residential service for persons with intellectual disabilities- Tsin Cheung day activity centre cum hostel has started her services since 2015
- Organize seminar to promote the service for aged persons with intellectual disabilities.
2.2. Physical-psychological activate therapy
Make use the physical-psychological activate therapy from Japan to help aged persons with intellectual disabilities who suffer from dementia
2.3. Dream surfing with love
The project is to support persons with intellectual disabilities to actualize their dreams

2.4. Life and Death Education
To equip persons with intellectual disabilities to understand life and death, and to facilitate them to express their views about caring and living.

2.5. Comfort Care
We provide a comprehensive comfort care service for persons with intellectual disabilities who suffered from terminal illness so that they can enjoy a dignify and quality life before the end of their life.
2.6. Training for staff, volunteer and users’ families
To equip caregivers the needed knowledge and skills to care for persons with intellectual disabilities.
