Introduction
This project utilizes Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) as a three-tier intervention model to address the diverse mental health needs of older adults and their caregivers. Integrating community mental health education and therapeutic groups, the project facilitates the early identification of high-risk groups for one-on-one sessions, offering professional counselling tailored to their specific needs. Concurrently, regular case conferences are arranged with clinical psychologists, social workers, and counsellors. This continuous professional development empowers frontline staff to master skills for complex cases, thereby proactively addressing the public health challenges of an advancing aging society.
Service Scope
- Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) Community Education Activities: Organizing workshops or talks to share basic knowledge of MBCT, conducting preliminary assessments for participants to identify mental health risks, and thereby providing interventions or referring them to appropriate services.
- Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) Therapeutic Groups: Group counselling provided by the project's professional team to equip older adults and their caregivers with stress-coping methods and techniques, effectively alleviating anxiety stemming from daily life stressors.
- Clinical Psychologist Intervention and Support: Providing one-on-one interview counselling for individuals identified with high mental health risks. Under the professional supervision of clinical psychologists, the team conducts regular case interviews and holds multi-diciplinary case conferences to guide frontline social workers and counsellors in managing complex cases with precision. Should further needs arise, in-depth interviews with clinical psychologists will be arranged to mitigate overall mental health risks.
