Community Support Services
“Healthy Ageing” and “Ageing in Place” are the main concerns of our community support services. We encourage elders to develop healthy and balanced life, make good use of their leisure time, and participate actively in different activities to develop their potentials to the fullest. Besides, to actualize the concept of “Ageing in Place”, we provide home care services, nursing and rehabilitation services to assist the needy elders and their families living in the community. With 45 different types of community support services centres, we strive to provide a wide spectrum of quality services to our elders.

Residential Services
"Holistic Care" and "Continuum of Care" are the key focus of our residential care services. Through different types of residential care service which run by our 25 elderly homes and multi-disciplinary staff teams, we provide quality and comprehensive care and rehabilitation services to those elders in need to enable them to enjoy their old age.

「睛靈長者外展眼科視光檢查計劃」啟動禮
東華三院與香港理工大學（理大）眼科視光學院本着同一理念，攜手積極推行社區及基層眼睛健康，特別針對長者需要，合辦「睛靈長者外展眼科視光檢查計劃」 ，由東華三院出資贊助，為長者提供優質及完善的眼科視光檢查服務。
不少基層長者因為行動不便或交通的問題，而不願到坊間的眼科視光學診所作定期檢查，以至部分長者因延誤就醫而影響視力。有見及此，東華三院及理大眼科視光學院合辦「睛靈長者外展眼科視光檢查計劃」，由東華三院出資贊助長者的眼科視光檢查費用，與理大的專業眼科視光團隊合作，於東華三院黃祖棠社會服務大樓設立流動視光檢測平台，讓居於院舍內或九龍城區內合資格長者可免費到院舍接受綜合眼科視光檢查服務。
東華三院主席陳婉珍博士表示，東華三院一直致力照顧長者的不同需要。今次跟理大已是第二次合作，繼上次安排長者到大學眼科視光學診所進行檢查後，今次東華聯同理大，進一步為長者提供外展眼科視光檢查。東華期望該計劃能讓長者可免卻舟車勞頓之苦，亦可讓他們及早正視眼睛健康問題，達致預防勝於治療的效果。此外，陳主席更感謝一眾義工不辭勞苦，親自落區陪同居住附近的長者到院舍接受檢查。
理大眼科視光學院學院主任林小燕教授指出，隨着年紀增長，很多長者都有視力衰退的問題，若忽視眼睛健康問題，除為長者日常生活帶來不便，更有可能釀成意外。綜合眼科視光檢查可及早發現視力衰退原因，甚至其他隱性疾病，從而作出適切的跟進及治療，提升長者生活質素。林教授表示，學院一直相信，教學、科研及服務是互相緊扣的，這次計劃是學院首次以外展形式，提供綜合眼科視光檢查服務，正好讓學生進一步走入社群，在導師指導下，運用專業知識，累積寶貴的臨床經驗，培育一群能緊貼社會需要的醫護專才。
東華今次計劃會資助三百名長者參與「睛靈長者外展眼科視光檢查計劃」，由理大眼科視光學院的專業眼科視光團隊帶備檢測儀器，在東華三院黃祖棠社會服務大樓，由東華贊助居於九龍城區或東華三院黃祖棠護理安老院，並領取綜援或低收入的長者，接受外展綜合眼科視光檢查服務，內容包括視力及屈光檢查、視覺功能及眼睛健康檢查，及後更會為他們建議合適的跟進或轉介。

理大眼科視光學院
香港理工大學眼科視光學院是全港唯一提供眼科視光學教育的大學。作為眼睛護理的把關人，眼科視光師一直透過診斷眼疾及提供合適治療，致力提倡眼睛護理的重要性。發展至今，學院的眼科視光學課程被譽為亞洲最佳的眼科視光學課程。
