Training on daily living skills


Guided by the principles of functional utility, age appropriateness and community integration, individualized programme plans are developed for every trainee on the following areas:
  • Personal Management: the training of basic daily living skills
  • Work: vocational programmes such as packaging and self-employed remunerative activities in making handicrafts, planting herb.
  • Leisure: hobbies and recreational activities

Group Activities

Various kinds of group activities and programs like social and recreational, life and death education, and life enjoyment are organized, for the enrichment of life experiences.

Special Service Features

  • Nursing Care – Experienced Nursing Team to provide enhanced nursing care for the service users so as to meet their changing health needs.
  • Physiotherapy / Occupational Therapy – Tailor- designed Physiotherapy room and Occupational Therapy room to provide intensive motor and cognitive training for the ageing ID, so as to slow down their pace of deterioration.
  • Advanced Care Plan – Collaborating with Grantham Hospital and the Embracing Sunset Project, to provide palliative care for the residents in need so that they can die at our Home satisfyingly.
  • Family Reunion – Special arrangement will be made to facilitate family reunion.
  • Early Detection of Dementia - Dementia Screening Questionnaire for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (DSQIID) will be widely used to early identify the dementia symptoms so as to apply early intervention.

Working with Families

The centre cum hostel works closely with families to establish and maintain relationship between residents and families. Family programs and activities such as home meetings, individualized care plan meeting, social gatherings are regularly organized.

Scope of service

  • Knowledge on planation is taught through different interest groups.
  • Appropriate trining programme organized for elderly members or members with physical disabilities.
  • Encourage decision-making ability of members

Family work

The Centre works closely with the families to establish and maintain relationship between trainees and families. Family programmes and activities such as group meetings, forums, individualized programme plan meetings, social gatherings are regularly organized. Home leaves and family visits are encouraged to strengthen family networks.

Health care service

Daily health care, regular body checks, medical follow-up, drug administration, visiting medical service, etc., are provided.

Physiotherapy and occupational therapy service

Assessment and treatment by physiotherapists and occupational therapists are offered on a referral basis for the trainees to improve their motor functions and independent living skills.

Residential and Meal Service

The Centre provides accommodation with nutritious and wholesome meals.

Counseling service

Counseling is offered with respect to the social and emotional needs of the trainees.

Social and recreational programmes

A variety of social and recreational activities, such as outings, visits, parties, interest groups and community events are organized to encourage participants to spend leisure time meaningfully while enriching life experience.
