History
Yao Ling Sun Memorial Day Activity Centre commenced operation on 1 November 2014, providing 104 day training places, 52 residential places and 4 respite places.
In addition to the Lotteries Fund Grant, a generous donation from Yao Ling Sun Estate was received in support of part of the capital cost of the centre. In recognition of the Yao's family's benevolence, the Centre is named after the late Mr. Yao Ling Sun as "Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Yao Ling Sun Memorial Day Activity Centre cum Hostel".
Objective
To provide day training & residential service to persons with intellectual disability, aiming at strengthening their independent living skills & enhancing their quality of life, achieving the concept of integration & sharing the care-giving responsibility with their families.
Facilities
It consists of 11 bedrooms with independent restrooms & bedrooms, each of which can accommodate 2 to 6 service users. Other facilities include living and dining rooms, activity rooms, multi-purpose rooms, nursing rooms, physiotherapy treatment room, art room, quiet room, isolation room, living skill training room, kitchen, interviewing room and a parent resources corner.
Service Recipients
- Aged 15 or above with low moderate to severe grade of intellectual disability
- Free from acute medical condition or contagious disease
- No serious aggressive behavior
