History
The TWGHs Jockey Club Tsin Yin Day Activity Centre cum Hostel (D/H) is one of the service centres under the management of TWGHs Jockey Club Rehabilitation Complex since November 1997 and transforms into an intellectual disabilities aging home in April 2023, providing 46 capacities.
Objective
- To provide a range of well-planned and coordinated services facilitative to their social and physical well-being;
- To cater the needs of intellectual disabled elderly in various respectives;
- To allow them to live with free-choices and enjoyment and strengthen their independent living skills;
- To develop their potentials and cherish leisure moments;
- To achieve the concept of integration;
- To provide hostile care and enjoy their retirement journey.
Facilities
The D/H with an area of 1224 sq. m., consists of 10 dormitories, each accommodating 4-5 service users and having individual bathroom and washroom. It also provides PT/OT room, exercise corner, a sitting room and a dining room. Individuals in need can also use the communal facilities in the Rehabilitation Complex and the central physiotherapy/occupational therapy rooms and hydro-pool.
Service Recipients
Target clientele should be a) 50 years old or above and assessed by the Standardized Assessment Mechanism for Residential Services for People with Disabilities to be eligible for Hostel for Severely Mentally Handicapped Persons; or b) below 50 years old who are assessed to be eligible for the Service with the checklist provided by SWD. For those residents who could no longer benefit from prolonged or intensive training owing to ageing or deterioration in health conditions. A range of well-planned and coordinated services facilitative to their social and physical well-being and integration into the community will be provided. |
