History

The centre commenced operation in July 1979 as Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Kwai Shing Day Nursery to provide child care and educational services for young children in Kwai Chung District. It was renamed Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Lion's Club of the Peak Day Nursery in November 1995 after a donation from the Lions Club of the Peak in suport of its service development. With the implementation of Harmonization of Pre-primary Services, the centre has been registered under Education Bureau as Kindergarten-cum-Child Care Centre, namely Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Lions Club of the Peak Nursery School, with effect from 1 September 2005.

Objective

  • To provide a safe and caring environment where professional and trained teaching staff carefully nurture and educate children, enabling them to grow actively and healthily.
  • To promote the holistic development of children in areas such as social skills, intelligence, physical abilities, emotional well-being, aesthetic appreciation, and creativity.
  • To provide parent education services, assisting families in addressing the challenges of raising and caring for young children, enabling parents to work with peace of mind, and collaborating with parents to support children's growth.
  • To cultivate good living habits, a love for learning, and self-care skills in children.

Facilities

The nursery school has floor area of around 342 sq. m., which includes activities rooms, indoor big muscle playground, music room, kitchen, children's toilet, supervisor room and staff room.
Each activity room provides a diversity of age-appropriate learning corners for dramatic play, reading and writing,
art and craft, constructive play, computer programme, sand and water, etc.

Service Recipients

  • Children aged 2 - 6
  • Priority placement would be granted to families with social needs referred by Social Welfare Department.
